Business Cards 2.0

I’m starting to run out of business cards and I’ve been using the same design since I started this business in 2003. The original design was intentionally conservative and I have no urge to change it. However, I decided to try a parallel path and test out Moo minicards. These are very small business cards (very “2.0-ish”) which can be printed on demand. I ordered 100 cards and a small case and used one of the available designer themes. You can also import Flickr photos and best of all, each card can have a different design.

I’m already considering my next order and Andrea wants a bunch from her Flickr gallery to use as business cards and price tags for her art work. I can also see these cards as quite useful for events like conferences. The shipping is very fast, even to Atlantic Canada :-)

  1. Hi Harold,

It looks like an extra http found its way into the link to Moo minicards.

The cards are very cool though. I think I might get a set for myself the next time I go to a conference.

  2. Harold, they’re cool, minimalist, but do they pass the ‘use’ test? What’s the ‘use’ test? Is there room to write a note on. I’ve seen cards that have the entire back have an image, or are black, or… Seems like little space besides your info, but you could get one or two words on…

  3. Good point, Clark. That’s why I’m going to test them out and see how they work.

    Cost for 100 Moo cards = $20
Cost for a new batch of 250 traditional, high-quality business cards = $200

  5. I think Moo is great and they cater to a very specific niche of printing customers, but whatever any of you do, don’t go with VistaPrint!

There are better online shops out there than VistaPrint that have thicker, better quality, card stock. I recommend http://www.4focusfx.com . Usually, if you call them directly, they’ll give you some new customer deals if they have any… (800) 585-9315.

What I tend to see a lot online nowadays are deals for “16pt business cards”. 4FocusFX seems to carry a lot of that and their prices are on the cheaper side… the other day I placed an order for 1000 business cards and they charged me only $49 (pretty good considering the fact that they were full color front and back).
