I recently posted a link to SmartDraw at the bottom left of my website. This is a purely commercial venture on my part, and I receive a small commission for every sale of SmartDraw that occurs as a result of a purchase though this link. Someone purchased SmartDraw7 this month (thank you very much) and I will get some cash (cool). Here are the main reasons I decided to do this:
- I have been using SmartDraw for a couple of years, and I like the product (ask me for details if you like)
- SmartDraw is a small company, with about 25 employees, and I like helping the little guys
- I wanted to experiment with paid ads, and see what happens
I would appreciate any feedback on my e-commerce foray, especially if you think that this detracts from my independent consultant status. I don’t intend to add more products to my nav bar, and no I don’t get any money for the Firefox banner – I just really like the product :-)

You’re the second person to have told me about this. Gee, I go to Moncton shopping probably twice a year, as I prefer Amherst NS, with its fewer crowds. Anyway, my boys wanted to go to ToysRUs, and off we went into the “madding crowd”.
I did purchase a new (and cheap) PDA, but my real search was for a digital camera. I looked high and low, did comparison shopping (having already done my web research) and finally decided not to buy one right away. On the way home, I stopped by the local Jean Coutu drugstore in Sackville, and there I saw the same Canon camera that I almost bought, for exactly the same price as the big box stores. I guess I learned my lesson ;-)

“real” commerce experience caught on camera?Harold, I was watching the local news yesterday (the day after boxing day and the big snowstorm). The comment was made that “shoppers were out in droves with pent up boxing day shopping frustration at being stuck due to the storm” Then they showed PEI shoppers, and Moncton shoppers on a film clip.
The clip of Moncton was at Champlain place, and (amongst a sea of people) it LOOKED like you with two kids as you pointed at the camera!
So – Are you a celebrity now? Can I have your autograph?
